Course Description
This eight-lesson course, led by Dr. Michael Reynolds, invites college students to share honest perspectives on their relationship with the church and its role in their lives. Through open dialogue, students highlight the church’s strengths—such as belonging, love, and purpose—while also naming challenges like favoritism, performance-driven worship, and lack of authenticity. Their voices underscore that while the church is deeply valued as a community of faith, it must remain attentive to how it welcomes, serves, and nurtures young adults in an ever-changing cultural landscape.
Each lesson builds on key themes: what students love about the church, what discourages them, what they expect from pastors, and what pastors need to know about their generation. The discussions explore maintaining spiritual balance away from home, the vital influence of professors, the church’s role in guiding dating and relationships, and ways churches can more intentionally support college students through encouragement, mentoring, and care. Collectively, these conversations position college students not only as a mission field in need of guidance but also as missionaries within their campuses and communities. By listening to their insights, this course equips church leaders, pastors, and congregations to foster authenticity, provide meaningful support, and partner with students as they grow in faith and impact the world for Christ.
