Course Description
Engaging the Bible is an eight-lesson foundational course designed to help ministers, church leaders, and dedicated believers gain a deeper, more informed, and transformative relationship with Scripture. Led by New Testament scholar Dr. Josh Rice, this course equips learners to understand the Bible's origin, reliability, and interpretive power. Lessons examine how the Bible was formed and canonized, highlighting the Spirit-led process of recognizing inspired texts. Learners explore how Scripture transitioned from sacred Hebrew writings to the 27-book New Testament, and how courageous reformers helped make the Bible accessible to ordinary people through translation, literacy, and technological advancements like the printing press.
Each lesson builds on the last, combining historical background, literary analysis, and practical interpretation. Students are guided to explore not just what the Bible says, but how to understand it within its historical, cultural, and theological context. Lessons cover essential topics like biblical reliability through manuscript evidence, the dangers of misinterpretation, and the enduring relevance of Scripture in shaping ethical and communal life. Dr. Rice offers compelling insights into biblical genres, interpretive frameworks, and the overarching biblical narrative—from creation to new creation. By the end of the course, learners will not only grow in their understanding of the Bible’s structure and authority but will also be inspired to engage Scripture as a dynamic, life-giving guide for personal growth and faithful ministry.
